Composer, conductor, pianist Ryan Wigglesworth was educated at Oxford University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Between 2007 and 2009 he was a Lecturer at Cambridge University and a Fellow of Corpus Christi College.
Currently Composer-in-Residence with English National Opera, Wigglesworth conducts a new production each season. His first full-length opera, A Winter’s Tale, will premiere at ENO in 2017 directed by Benedict Andrews.
He also enjoys a close association with the Hallé Orchestra, who premiered the revised version of his Violin Concerto in 2014 with Barnabas Kelemen and with whom he will be Principal Guest Conductor from Autumn 2015.
Ryan Wigglesworth is represented as a conductor by Jonathan Groves at Ingpen & Williams and his music is published exclusively by Schott Music.
Études-Tableaux was commissioned by The Cleveland Orchestra and Franz Welser-Möst, with the generous support of the Young Composers Endowment Fund, established by Jan R. and Daniel R. Lewis.
It received its UK premiere on 6th February 2015 at the Barbican Hall, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth
