Entries for the British Composer Awards 2017 are Now Closed.

The British Composer Awards promote the art of composition, recognise the creative talent of composers and sound artists, and bring their music to a wider audience. They are unique in making contemporary music, jazz and sonic art the focus of their annual celebration.

To be eligible for the 2017 awards Composers must have been born in the UK or ordinarily resident for at least 5 years. 

Works that received a UK première performance, either live or broadcast, from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017 were eligible across the following categories:

Solo or Duo
Small Chamber
Chamber Ensemble
Choral
Wind Band or Brass Band
Orchestral
Stage Works
Sonic Art
Contemporary Jazz Composition
Community or Educational Project
Amateur or Young Performers

The British Composer Awards are presented by BASCA and sponsored by PRS for Music, in association with BBC Radio 3 providing exclusive broadcast coverage.

The Awards take place on Wednesday 6 December in the BP Lecture Theatre and East Foyer of the British Museum, London.
